Places to visit in Kotagiri
- Kodanad Viewing Point - 16 km (10 miles) from Kotagiri or about 30 minutes by vehicle. It provides a splendid view of the great Mysore Plateau to one side and the picturesque 50 acre farming cooperative called Thengumarahada, which seems like a green mosaic amidst the shrubland, lazily meandering this little village is the Moyar River.
- Nehru Park – In the heart of the town, houses a temple of the Kotas, the Gandhi Maidanam (public playground), a Congregation centre and the Flood shelter which is used in normal times for indoor games. It has a beautiful lawn and colorful flowers
- Pandiaraj Memorial Park – Located 3 km from the town, on the Coonoor road, this private park has a vast variety of flowers and plants.
- Long Wood Shola - Situated about 3 kms away from the Kotagiri town, these shoals are maintained as one of the great wildlife reserves in The Nilgiris, perfectly peaceful and the untouched forest traits are the home to variety of birds and animals like elephants, bison, wild boars, and also tigers and leopards
- Rangaswamy Pillar - At a distance of 16 kms from Kotagiri is the sacred Rangaswamy Pillar. The excursion to the Eastern slopes of the Nilgiris is popular with the tourists to Kotagiri. The site is also a vantage point to check out the wonderous vistas of the Nilgiris.
- St Cathrine Falls - 15 kms from kotagiri , on the way to Mettupalayam, is a two step waterfalls that plummets down from a height of 250 ft. From this beautiful water falls, you get the view of the forest, tea gardens and Mettupalayam town as well.
- Elk Falls - This is a tourist attraction to visit in Kotagiri. This place is very well known for the amazing waterfalls and the beautiful European house built during the days of the British colonial rule.
- Ralliah Dam – On the Kotagiri-Coonoor road in the military area of Wellington, this small dam built by the British in the pre independence era, is an absolute silent and a great trek cum picnic spot.
